The Konfliktkultur association develops projects, organizes seminars and publishes materials on creative and constructive interaction in conflict situations and for peace education. The association is also often represented at international conferences with projects on the main assumption that creative handling of conflicts is viewed as fundamental to democratic political education and peacework.
The association has taken part in several cooperative national projects, such as: P.A.K.T. an introduction for schools visiting the Austrian Peace Museum, and in international projects such as "veto-online".
The main activities of Konfliktkultur are aiming to support and undertake all kinds of projects to increase awareness for peace matters and to develop constructive handling of conflict situations.
During the years 2005/2006 Konfliktkultur promoted the 100 years anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize award to Bertha von Suttner, informing about her concern and her peace activities, pointing out that they are today just as real as they were at her time.
We consider the need for peace as a very specific one, which most people share, but only very few are conscious of the fact, that peace relies upon individual activities and engagement. One of the privileges we have in democratic societies is to engage in political affairs and to promote the public opinion. We therefore provide opportunities to broaden personal competence and knowlege about peace concepts and we support the learning process for active democratic citizenship.
